Arizona has been a permitless carry state since 2010. Anyone 21 or older who may legally have a firearm can carry it concealed or openly, with no license and no class. Under 21, carrying concealed is still an offense under A.R.S. 13-3102, so younger adults carry openly or keep the gun cased in a vehicle. The optional Concealed Weapons Permit is issued statewide by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, not by the county sheriff. Schools, polling places, court facilities, nuclear and hydroelectric stations and posted private property stay off-limits.

Unit 24A takes in the Pinal Mountains and the country between Superior, the Gila River and the San Carlos boundary, while Unit 23 covers the Tonto Basin and the rim country north of the Salt River. Check the unit map before applying, because the reservation line runs close to town.
