Arizona has been a permitless carry state since 2010. Anyone 21 or older who may legally have a firearm can carry it concealed or openly, with no license and no class. Under 21, carrying concealed is still an offense under A.R.S. 13-3102, so younger adults carry openly or keep the gun cased in a vehicle. The optional Concealed Weapons Permit is issued statewide by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, not by the county sheriff. Schools, polling places, court facilities, nuclear and hydroelectric stations and posted private property stay off-limits.

Deer applications were accepted from June 2 to July 24, 2026, and archery-only deer tags are sold over the counter with unit harvest limits.
Unit 28 runs west through Clifton along the Lower Eagle Creek Road, and Unit 27 climbs north from Highway 78 into the Blue Range. That is elk, bear and mule deer country on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, almost all of it drawn.
The Gila Box Riparian National Conservation Area lies downstream, and the Blue Range Primitive Area and Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest start a few miles north of town.
